The -Washing of the Word

As I memorize and meditate on God's word, my sense of my sinfulness becomes my reality and the power of His grace becomes more real and powerful. My vision and dreams become more clear and vivid from His heart.

I see us all kneeling at the feet of Jesus and crying, "Worthy is the Lamb". Not my own religious effort but His grace and His grace alone.

Let's rid ourselves of the labels and self righteousness and cling hand in hand with our brothers and sisters around the cross of Christ where noone is better than the other.

Grace, grace, God's wondrous grace. The wonderful, matchless grace of God. No worthy men just sinners and failures glorying in His love. All clothed in His righteousness not our performance, but His perfect performance. We bring our filthy rags and he exchanges them with robes pure white. As I am reminded of this song:

The windows of heaven are open
His blessings are flowing tonight
There is joy, joy, joy in my heart
Since Jesus made everything right.

I gave Him my old outer garments
He gave me a robe of pure white
I feasting on manna from heaven
And that's why i am happy tonight

Revival Meditations

"Wherever the Church is aroused and the world's wickedness
arrested, somebody has been praying." - A. T. Pierson

"How terrible is the cost of robbing God of time for prayer. When
we rob God of time for quiet, we are robbing Him of ourselves. It is
only in the quiet that we can really know Him and know ourselves,
and be sure that we give ourselves back to Him. Oh, for God's
sake, do not risk keeping the windows of Heaven closed by
robbing God of time." - Gordon M. Guinness

"The missionary church is a praying church. The history of
missions is a history of prayer. Everything vital to the success of
the world's evangelization hinges on prayer. Are thousands of
missionaries and tens of thousands of native workers needed?
'Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He send forth
laborers into His harvest.'" - John R. Mott

"Why does the Church stay indoors? They have a theology that
has dwindled into a philosophy, in which there is no thrill of faith,
no terror of doom and no concern for souls. Unbelief has put out
the fires of passion, and worldliness garlands the altar of sacrifice
with the tawdry glitter of unreality. The Holy Ghost cannot conquer
the world with unbelief, nor can He save the world with a worldly
Church. He calls for a crusade, a campaign, and an adventure of
saving passion. For this enterprise He wants a separated,
sanctified and sacrificial people." - Samuel Chadwick

"We give ourselves to prayer. We preach a Gospel that saves to
the uttermost, and witness to its power. We do not argue about
worldliness; we witness. We do not discuss philosophy; we
preach the Gospel. We do not speculate about the destiny of
sinners; we pluck them as brands from the burning. We ask no
man's patronage. We beg no man's money. We fear no man's
frown.Let no man join us who is afraid, and we want none but
those who are saved, sanctified and aflame with the fire of the
Holy Ghost." - Samuel Chadwick

"The Church gives more time, thought, and money to recreation
and sport than to prayer." - Samuel Chadwick

"The whole history of the Church is one long story of this tendency
to settle down on this earth and to become conformed to this
world, to find acceptance and popularity here and to eliminate the
element of conflict and of pilgrimage. That is the trend and the
tendency of everything. Therefore outwardly, as well as inwardly,
pioneering is a costly thing." - T. Austin Sparks

"It is a costly and a suffering thing to come up against the
religious system that has ' settled down ' here. It is far more
costly than coming up against the naked world itself. The religious
system can be more ruthless and cruel and bitter; it can be
actuated by all those mean things, contemptible things, prejudices
and suspicious things that you will not even find in decent people
in the world. It is costly to go on to the heavenlies, it is painful; but
it is the way of the pioneer, and it has to be settled that that is
how it is." - T. Austin Sparks

"'Go ye' is as much a part of Christ's Gospel as 'Come unto Me.'
You are not even a Christian until you have honestly faced your
responsibility in regard to the carrying of the Gospel to the ends of
the earth. What is your part in that great task?" - J. Stuart Holden

"There are great marvels in the world to-day. There is the marvel of
the disobedient Church, which hugs to itself Christian privileges
and neglects Christian obligations." - J. Stuart Holden

"It is wonderful what God can do with a broken heart, if He gets all
the pieces." -Samuel Chadwick

"It is a solemn thing to find oneself drawn out in prayer which
knows no relief till the soul it is burdened with is born. It is no less
solemn afterwards, until Christ is formed in them." - Amy Carmichael

"The evangelization of the world in this generation depends first of
all upon a revival of prayer. Deeper than the need for men; deeper,
far, than the need for money; aye, deep down at the bottom of our
spiritless life is the need for the forgotten secret of prevailing,
world-wide prayer." - Robert E. Speer

"A generation which wishes for a religion without tears must find it
difficult to adjust its beliefs to the teaching of the New Testament
and of the facts of life." - W. R. Inge

Outrageous Claims of Scripture

Well, I want to bless you with one of my brothers in Christ. Philip Walker, founder of www.scripturememorychallenge.org, has preached a sermon beyond sermons. We should all have this loaded on our ipods or mp3 players. I have made it available on my server just click here and download.

This sermon is what I have been learning from Chuck Mueller this year at New Hope Church and will move your life. Do we really believe Scripture or do we "say" we believe Scripture? How would you live if you really believed the outrageous claims of Scripture?

Listen and Enjoy...

Thanks Philip for allowing me to share this with my audience.

Psalm 91:9-10

"If you make your home in Me, then no evil will come your way..." Psalm 91:10

What a promise from God's word. I read this today and thought...am I making my home in Him...is He the essence of my life...what a powerful meditation! I think of the comman phrase we say, "I am at home with him..." Are we "at home", familar, comfortable, content with Jehovah? A key question to meditate on today...our intimacy with God.

I was at a training class with Tricia Rhodes from New Hope Church and she said, "Imagine that you are sitting accross from Christ physically, what would you ask Him? Well, do you realize that He is here NOW and wants to talk?" Think about the truth of Hebrews 10 that we can draw near to the holy of holies anywhere, anytime and find grace.

How much are we drawing near to Him?

How much are we including Him?

How much are we asking Him?

The King of Kings awaits...have you made a home in Him?

Kurt Steele God's Answer to Me About Heroes

Kurt, your strength comes from me. When you are up against the ropes is when I move. Think of the Beattitudes...Blessed are the poor in spirit, Blessed are those who mourn, Blessed are those who hunger and thirst. Desperation leads to divine intervention. Poverty leads to kingdom riches. Thirst leads to satisfaction. The more you get desperate, the more My strength takes over. Press into neediness, Kurt. Lean on Me and trust Me. Allow me to move the mountains in your life and calm the seas of your soul.

Kurt Steele Memorize and Meditate As You Go

I am sitting on a bench in a dowtown area. I am doing my review on Saturday. It takes be an average of 3 minutes per epistle Chapter to review...what I love is that there is so much lull time in life: sitting in waiting rooms, walking somewhere, driving in a car, or sitting on a bench. I found that my thoughts have a tendancy of wondering raher than focusing on the Lord. Utilizng my lull times to review makes a huge difference. I have myself recorded reciting the chapters so I can put the headphones on andlisten to scripture on my ipod. It is amazing how great that works. I am pressing on in my pursuit of memorizing the New Testament. Why dont you join me? The lord really speaks when you memorize and meditate. I share my insights on my podcast at http://kurtsteelemeditation.podbean.com

Kurt Steele Cast Your Burdens

This morning I was awoke by my burdens and was attacked by Satan. I have blown it in my life and have walked for many years in deep rebellion against the Lord. This is the former Kurt Steele. BUT Satan reminds me of the past over and over again. This morning I awoke and imediately went to prayer and claimed the blood of Jesus Christ. God brought me to Psalm 55:22 which says, "Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you..." It does not say cast your cares on a friend, or on a counselor...BUT take it to the Wonderful Counselor...the Lord...cast them before Him...

Isaiah 35:4 says, "Take courage, fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance; the recompense of God will come, BUT HE WILL SAVE YOU."

I Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all you anxiety on Him, because He cares for you."

God not only wants us to cast our burdens, but He really cares. He knows our struggles...He knows what lonliness is all about...He knows what suffering is...AND He cares.

Come to the water and you will never thirst again...

Come to the Saviour and you will be saved....

Come to the fountain and drink and live forever...

Come to the Lord and cast all your burdens at His feet...

The Lord spoke to me, "Don't pick it up anymore Kurt..."

My brethren, that is easier said then done, isn't it?

Kurt Steele Memorization Tips

Scripture memory is so powerful and many people do not know about the potential thay have to memorize scripture. One tip is recording scripture and you can do this on your PC or Laptop. There is recording software that is freeware.

One of the best tools is Audacity at http://www.audacity.com and then save as an mp3 format and load into your ipod or mp3 player.

Listening to it over and over again will drill it into your brain.

I am asked...how many times do I need to recite a verse or passage before it is embededed into my long term memory?

Look at this description from Wikipedia...

Long-term memory (LTM) is memory, stored as meaning, that can last as little as a few days or as long as decades. It differs structurally and functionally from working memory or short-term memory, which ostensibly stores items for only around 30 seconds. Biologically, short-term memory is a temporary potentiation of neural connections that can become long-term memory through the process of rehearsal and meaningful association. The proposed mechanism by which short-term memories move into LTM storage is via long-term potentiation, which leads to a physical change in the structure of neurons. Notably, the time scale involved at each level of memory processing remains under investigation.
As long-term memory is subject to fading in the natural forgetting process, several recalls/retrievals of memory may be needed for long-term memories to last for years, dependent also on the depth of processing. Individual retrievals can take place in increasing intervals in accordance with the principle of spaced repetition. This can happen quite naturally through reflection or deliberate recall (a.k.a. recapitulation or recollection), often dependent on the perceived importance of the material.

Here is the best principles that I found:

http://www.accelerated-learning-online.com/process/reinforce.asp

1. The reinforce step involves three activities. These are applying the techniques, using repetition, and then continuing with refresh reviews. Think of repetition as building your brain networks, and refresh reviews as preserving them for the long term. Usually you will have an exam or test to complete as part of a course, so this may be a good point to split these tasks. You may choose any point you like.

2. Use repetition to reinforce your knowledge. As you can see (for this example), doing one session a day is twice as effective as one session a week. One session a day is more than three times as effective as one session a fortnight. Keep in mind the overall number of repetitions over the four weeks is the same - sixty repetitions.

3. We typically forget eighty percent of new information within the first twenty-four hours of the first lesson. With repetition and review though, we can eventually achieve significant recall. Regularly reviewing your material improves your overall recall of material as time progresses. Alternatively, if you do not use what you have learned, you will start to lose it.
